Anthony Robert McMillan aka known professionally as Robbie Coltrane dies at the age of 72 (30 March 1950 – 14 October 2022).He was a Scottish actor and comedian.
Robbie’s representative Belinda Wright said he passed on Friday at a medical clinic in Scotland. He was ill from the last 2 years and was under treatment in Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
Robbie played a crime-solving psychologist on television series “Saltine“.
Robbie played the Russian crime boss in the James Bond thrillers “GoldenEye“ and “The World is not enough“.
Robbie gained fame as an image of tough detective in the 1990s series “Cracker,” for which he won best actor at the British Academy Television Awards three years running.

Robbie then found worldwide fame as Hagrid in the film adaptation of JK Rowling’s bestselling Harry Potter series. He played the gentle half-giant, who acts as a mentor and friend to the boy wizard, in all eight Harry Potter films, released between 2001 and 2011.
He was nominated many times for the “Best Supporting Actors” for the “Harry Potter” work and have featured in all the 8 series of the Harry potter movies.

Robbie is survived by his sister Annie Rae, his ex-wife Rhona Gemmell and his children Spencer and Alice.

Harry Potter author JK Rowling tweeted and said: “I’ll never know anyone remotely like Robbie again. He was an incredible talent, a complete one off.”
Daniel Radcliffe, who starred as Harry Potter, said: “Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met and used to keep us laughing constantly as kids on the set
Tom Felton, who starred as Draco Malfoy in the fantasy film series, described Coltrane as a “big friendly giant”, and recalled shooting a scene with him during Harry Potter And The Phisopher’s Stone.
“One of my fondest memories of filming Harry Potter was a night shoot on the first film in the forbidden forest,” Felton tweeted.
Bonnie Wright, who featured in the Harry Potter films as Ginny Weasley, said she was “heartbroken” and thanked Coltrane for “all the laughter”.
James Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli also paid tribute to Coltrane, who starred as Valentin Zukovsky in Bond films GoldenEye and The World Is Not Enough.
They described him as an “exceptional actor”, adding that “his talents knew no bounds”.
He will always remember to the World as the finest actor who played various impactful roles in his life.
